Spider Fund Increases

BOTRA’s submission to RWWA asking for an increase to the payout on damaged or written-off spiders has been well received. RWWA has seen the need to take into account the higher costs of acquiring new sulkies and an improvement to the spider fund system. 

An increase in the Spider Fund budget has been approved which as from 1/6/23 will now allow the payment for any spider that is un-repairable (written off) to be increased from a maximum of $4,000 + GST to a maximum of $8,000 + GST. Wheel replacements/repairs will be maintained to a maximum of $1,000 + GST.  There are no caps to the number of claims each year.

Repairs to damaged spiders will be more closely scrutinized with the possibility of tenders being sought to update how repairs are carried out. We look forward to better outcomes regarding financial compensation and efficiency within the system.
