
During the 2022/23 season membership has increased almost five-fold as a new, active committee and secretary have introduced submissions to RWWA to benefit drivers, trainers, and their horses.
• A complete review of all harness tracks with a focus on track surfaces, camber, and lighting.
• Improving the outcomes from the Spider Fund through an annual funding increase to $100,000.
• Payouts for a written off spider have now doubled, up to $8000.
• A call to increase driving fees and trainer’s percentages.
• Handicapping and programming improvements (ongoing).
• Workers’ compensation for drivers is currently being implemented.
• Constant monitoring of tracks and facilities at all harness race meetings.
• Improved track maintenance procedures and track conditioning.
• Increased media content and newsletters to highlight awareness and opportunities for Trainers, drivers, breeders, and owners.
• Monthly and annual awards to high achieving members.
